Louisiana Tiger Zouaves

Dated: February 20, 1999.

The following are some more zouave conversions from Mr. David Hennen. His comments are produced verbatim below:

The HaT 8004 American Civil War Union Zouaves set has lots of potential for conversion ideas, and has given me unlimited enjoyment. To give my Confederate Civil War Army more variety, I have created some Confederate Louisiana Tiger Zouaves. My figures are handled a lot. So they need to be sturdy. This project was accomplished "swoppet" style. The "Tigers" sometimes wore an unofficial straw hat. Not uncommonly, they had patriotic mottos inscribed on them, such as 'Tigers Win Or Die', 'Tigers Always', or 'Tigers!' These conversions were created using a head with the unique straw hat that is available from another set. I carefully removed it leaving enough below it to carve a long neck, or peg, for inserting it into the HaT Zouave. The HaT Zouave was drilled using the Tamiya hand-twist drill. It is simple and every detail is historically authentic. The same can be done with the popular kepi style hat also. All that is required is a small hand drill, a sharp hobby cutter, and your enthusiasm.

Again, many thanks to Mr. Hennen for his most interesting conversions.
